john and Gloria's epic journey

BAMFF

Hi everyone, hope you've been receiving our Blogs? this is the second one we've sent. Suppose you're all busy working Ha! Well we are now in Bamff after our spectacular journey on the Rocky Mountaineer. What a fantastic way to travel and we were so looked after with gourmet food and silver service and any drinks we wanted so we were all VERY happy on that train. Our day here in Bamff (the end of our Rocky Mountaineer journey) has been most wonderful with a helicopter flight over and in between mountains. What a great day for it too, the people say today was the most perfect weather to fly over the mountains. Bamff is just like a fairy tale village - most quaint. Canadians are very welcoming and polite and they are very courteous drivers, they could teach us Aussies something. Bamff is surrounded by mountains so everywhere we look there are spectacular views. A deer was feeding in the grounds of the Bamff hotel yesterday (not popular as he was eating the newly planted plants. No bears or cougars so far though (although we did spot some from the train yesterday). The view from our room is just breathtaking we see Bow lake meandering through mountains and we are on the 8th floor. We are staying again overnight here and tomorrow we go to Lake Louise where we will take a Gondola ride up the mountain top. Well folks hope you are all OK better go to dinner and experience some more wonderful quisine again Ho Hum! Love to you all, miss speaking to you.. Love Mum and Dad John and Glor Nanna and Poppa and Dah.

victoria Canada

Hello Everyone Guess What! we are in Victoria Canada (the Capital of British Columbia) and on the Island of Vancouver. It is just a beautiful city and so much to do and see. The Empress Hotel is FABULOUS! and service is impeccable, and when we arrived here we hadn't slept for some 34 hours but as it was the morning (7am) Canada time, we walked for most of the day finding some boutique brewers and had a few beers to get us back to the hotel. After having some Seafood chowder, another beer and a hot bath (in which I fell asleep) went to bed and slept for 12 hours waking at 12noon the next day(beautiful). Then we got on and off the hop-on hop-off bus to see the city stopping to taste some delicious fish and clams at a "famous" fish and chip shop on the wharf (some locals told us about this). We saw some local seals and sea otters there, they are residents aparently not venturing out too far as the killer whales are waiting for them. Today is Wednesday (it's probably yesterday in Aussie as you are around 18 hrs behind) and we've been to the BC museum and walked in the rain and cold for 1 1/2 hrs during or enduring a historical walk beforehand. The rain fell consistently and it was only 10 deg.max. so this was different but we had our good coats for this weather thank goodness. They provide umbrellas here for you as it rains most of the time. This morning we went to the Butchart gardens and there is no one word to describle this to you all, the plants and flowers are absolutely beautiful and there is so much to see there with diferent style gardens. The gardens have been there since 1904 and we didn't see one dead flower, it is impecably maintained. Tomorrow we leave this beautiful city and catch a Ferry to Vancouver on the mailand to commence our Rocky Mountain adventure. So be assured we are having fun and can't believe we are here, it still seems unreal to us. Love to all Mum and Dad (John and Glor).
